Jennifer Sheridan ask Cole to investigate her fiancee Mark Thurman (an LAPD cop) leading him to discover the cover up of the shooting of an unarmed man and subsequent blackmail of the officers involved by gang leader Akeem D'Muere.
D'Muere and the dirty cops try to frame Cole, for the murder of James Edward Washington (the victims brother who was helping Cole uncover the truth) and drugs but Pike is a wild card they didn't count on. Fearing for Jennifer's life Pike and Cole break out of prison and rush to find Jennifer.
They eventually find her with Mark Thurman and convince Mark to tell the truth. Cole and Mark go to get a copy of the tape showing the unjustified shooting and to cute a deal with the local authorities. But when they come back they find the other cops have taken Jennifer hostage. Their plans to allow D'Muere to kill Cole, Thurman and Jennifer go awry when Pike shows back up with guns blazing.
