Typical J. D. Robb novel.
When Rochelle's brother dies of a supposed OD, Crack ask Dallas to look into it. She soon realizes he was murdered and sets to work finding the pink haired girl he let into the apartment before he died, but before Eve can track her down she winds up dead and dumped in an area sure to cause trouble with a rival gang.
The trail soon leads Dallas to a disbarred lawyer, Bolt - the second in command of the Bangers and some Banger wanna be's eager to do his bidding. The motive for the lawyer was greed, the motive for Bolt was jealousy and a chance to take over the Bangers. Neither knew he was working as a Confidential Informant for Detective Strong. With her help Eve will bring down two gangs and the shady former lawyer.
