My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When the teller at Pike's bank is kidnapped in front of him he intervenes. Unfortunately Izzy has no idea what the kidnappers were talking about when they insist they want their money back.

Thanks to Elvis, they discover that Izzy's parents were in witness protection and that her Mother stole a lot of money from some very bad men, one of whom is still alive and still free and determined to get his money back at all cost and leave no witnesses.

Entreway, Easter and Study

I wanted to create a real entryway feel in front of the front door and not just a blah hall We got a new light fixture which improved the looks immensely and tall people no longer have to worry about bumping their head. And then I found this cute little shelf on Wayfair, when I saw the butterfly tile I knew I had to have it. It's perfect for hanging my keys and outside hats.

We started work on the study around Easter I loved the Glass Slipper so much in the Laundry Room/Pantry that I repeated it in the Study.

Easter I tried my hand at decoupaging Easter Eggs, they actually didn't turn out well at all. I need to cut the paper into smaller strips. I may try again in a few years when Olivia and Grant are older and can help.

I found this cute sugar and creamer combo.

I dressed up the Alawine Family Holiday Pie.

And drug out Mr. Bunny for the table.

No means yes.

Really this book is full of outrageous things. First he is her boss, but supposedly it's not sexual harassment when he flat out tells her he wants to have sex with her. Then we aren't supposed to be enraged that when she says NO, he just ignores her.

But then again she never meant NO.

Smokescreen (Eve Duncan, #25)

Smokescreen (Eve Duncan, #25)Smokescreen by Iris Johansen
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

OK I only gave it 3 stars because it felt formulaic Somebody manipulates Eve into putting herself in danger, Joe kills the danger. Same as the last 24 books...

I did enjoy catching up with my favorite characters and meeting new ones. The Kiyani angle was intriguing, I would have liked her to explore it further. I also enjoyed Dalai's character development and the romance between Novak and Jill. But to be honest I lost interest halfway through the book as it started to feel like the same material rehashed with new characters.

A Land More Kind Than Home by Wiley Cash (Goodreads Author)

A Land More Kind Than HomeA Land More Kind Than Home by Wiley Cash
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was I found the switching between 3 different characters POV annoying and distracting. I wished Adelaide had told the entire story as I found her character the most interesting and compelling.

The story begins with Adelaide witnessing a death and the cover up that ensued leading to her decision to keep the kids out of the church as long as Chambliss is the pastor. When Christopher (one of the children in her care) is taken into the church for "healing" his death leads her to open up to the sheriff about what happened years ago.

Christopher is as mute in death as he was in life but his brother Jess brings to life their discovery of their Mom and Chambliss together, Christopher's getting caught by Chambliss and the events surrounding Christopher's death. And how to late to save his brother, Jess eventually tells what he saw leading to more death.

The Sheriff, Barefield also has a voice but he too addresses the past the friendship between his son and Ben Hall, his son's death and the past that threatens to drag him under if he remembers too often.
