The Assassin's Blade (Throne of Glass, #0.1-0.5)The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is Sam and Celaena's love story. It's a story of friendship and courage.

When Arobynn Hamel saves Celaena's life the price he extorts in the end is too high. One can only wonder how Celaena will react when she finds out (if she ever does) that Arobynn Hamel was the one who had Ben killed, who had Sam tortured and killed, and was responsible for Celaena's imprisonment. All because she dared to fall in love with Sam and leave Arobynn.

House of Sky and Breath (Crescent City, #2)

House of Sky and Breath (Crescent City, #2)House of Sky and Breath by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I hope Cormac isn't dead, but everyone assumes he died in an explosion he started.

Prince Cormac comes to town ostensibly to be formally engaged to Bryce Quinlin on the Autumn King's orders. In reality, he is looking for a young boy, his girlfriend's brother. Sophie died on their last mission and carried the secrets she discovered about the Asteri to her grave, but left a clue carved on her arm. Bryce finds the boy and gives him to her Mother and stepfather to raise. Bryce and Hunt are mates and she uses the Fall Equinox Ball to formally cement their relationship to the Autumn King's displeasure.

Ithan Holstrom (wolf) has been living with Ruhn and his friends and considers them his new pack. When Flynn summons him to help rescue Bryce, Ruhn, and Hunt he is unwilling to leave the Alph Wolf he discovered at the Astronomer's. Ithan discovers she is a lost Fendyr heir and Sabine wants to kill her before she can challenge her, he awakens her and talks her into coming with him. The fire sprites he freed earlier are already at Ruhn's home and the Dragon is living with the Serpent Queen.

Tharion (Mer)is also living with Ruhn and went with Cormac to create a diversion for Bryce, Hunt, and Ruhn so they can learn the secret of the archives and rescue Day. Tharion sold himself to the Serpent Queen after he ended his relationship with the River Queen's daughter. He managed to escape from the trap Rigelus laid for them.

Ruhn has been contacting Day with his mind and fell in love with her but is dismayed to discover it's Hypaxia's(Hypaxia is involved with Celestine but seems close with Tharion) sister Lidia (aka The Hind). Lidia tries to help Ruhn, Bryce, and Hunt escape but in the end, is captured too. Baxian sacrifices himself to help Bryce escape (it turns out Baxian was mated to Danikia) The Asteria are from another planet and lured people with magical abilities to Midgard so they could feed off their first light. Hel managed to stop the invasion of their world and followed them to Midgard. Bryce escapes through a gate with this knowledge but instead of winding up in Hel like she was expecting she winds up in Rhysand's world.

Ruhn, Hunt, Baxian, and the Hind are captured by the Asteria

Dead Mountain (Nora Kelly #4)

Dead Mountain (Nora Kelly #4)Dead Mountain by Douglas Preston
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well, the long slumbering evil was a bit of a letdown as I was expecting something supernatural but this was an exciting read from beginning to end.

When two college students stumble on the remains of a Native American Burial Corrie calls Nora Kelly in to work with the local Native American Tribe. More troubling are the more recent remains suspected of being from the 2008 Dead Mountain incident. When the remains are verified as being one of the missing hikers the case is reopened and a troubling government cover-up is uncovered. But not content with the obvious solution Corrie keeps digging and discovers that a pharmaceutical giant experimented on his college friends without their knowledge leading to the Dead Mountain Tragedy.

Identity by Nora Roberts (Goodreads Author)

IdentityIdentity by Nora Roberts

Seemed similar to some of her earlier works. It's a sweet romance a bit sad about the roommate Nina who was murdered and the other victims of the serial killer. But the Nash women stick together it would be interesting if she did books on Morgan's Mother and Grandmother finding love, they were interesting characters and I would like to read more about them. I would also like to read more about Nell and the Sheriff.

After Death by Dean Koontz (Goodreads Author)

After DeathAfter Death by Dean Koontz
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I am afraid I am going to have to join the camp of the didn't enjoy folks, the writing seemed stale and the character development was nil.

Michael Mace is the only survivor of an incident at a research facility. When he awakens in the Morgue, he can connect to the Internet with his mind and manipulate it. This power will be used over and over to thwart the bad guys.

Not sure why Nina Dozier and her son John were added to the story they really don't offer much other than an interracial love interest for Michael Mace and a chance for Michael to show he can outwit John's biological Father who is the leader of a gang.

The main protagonist is Durand Calaphas the Internal Security Agency's most vicious agent. The man is sick and we spend most of the book trapped in his mind where he believes life to be some sort of video game. Kill enough people and you get to ascend to a higher level. Determined to kill Michael Mace and ascend to the next level Michael thwarts him by unleashing robot dogs on him.

On the way to rescue Michael the robot dogs witness a serial killer disposing of his latest victim. Another subplot that isn't really connected to the main storyline.

With John's biological Father and Calaphas dead John, Nina & Michael with new names go off to live happily ever after with a Golden Retriever named Lucy while Michael aka Superhacker exposes the bad guys on the Internet.
