The Night Window (Jane Hawk #5)

The Night Window (Jane Hawk #5)The Night Window by Dean Koontz
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

The last in the Jane Hawk series a new character Thomas Buckle was introduced and I am not sure what his purpose was, his parallel story merely seemed to be a page filler and if you have read The Most Dangerous Game not very original.

With the help of an old friend from the FBI, Vikram, who is a rock star hacker Jane will gather the information she needs to bring the Arcadians down and expose them once and for all. A daring plan will have Vikram entering the Whispering Room and seizing control of all the adjusted people and freeing them to tell what had been done to them.

With all the new people added and the constant back and forth between story lines reading it seemed as tortuous as Jane's quest to expose the Arcadians.

Midnight Promises (The Sweet Magnolias, #8)

Midnight Promises (The Sweet Magnolias, #8)Midnight Promises by Sherryl Woods
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I would have probably enjoyed it more IF I had read the other books in the series and was more familiar with the characters. Unlike most romances this one started after the marriage and dealt with some of the problems disapproving family, financial worries, etc. couples face.

The First Mistake by Sandie Jones

The First MistakeThe First Mistake by Sandie Jones
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The ending totally blew me away.

After the tragic death of her husband Tom, Alice is rebuilding her life and her design business with her new husband Nathan by her side, but when she is lead to believe that Nathan is cheating on her, her world starts to fall apart once again.

Beth's world fell apart years ago when "Tom" left her alone and pregnant after defrauding her Mother of her fortune. Now she will do anything to get even.

The emotions in the book and the various subplots keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

I received an Advance Readers' Edition the book goes on sale June 11th, 2019

Talking on Tuesday with Chimra

Back in December I was a conehead. I had a huge abcess on my side. I stayed inside and spent a lot of time sleeping.

Mommy left the heating pad on as I seemed to enjoy laying on it. And she let me have her old housecoat as I found it comforting. She wore it A LOT when I was a baby. December was a bad month for us I was a cone head and Mom's PMR seemed to be flaring and she had tons of stuff to do. Stress and being busy seem to make it worse.

We are sorry we aren't able to post and visit blogs as much as we used to, we hope our friends understand. A good friend saw where Dan Patrick talked about his PMR and gave Mom the article. She says it helps knowing that other people understand what she is going through and that maybe the article can help friends and family understand why Mommy isn't able to do the stuff she used to and why sometimes she isn't the easiest person to live with. She was also pleased to read about some different thearapies.

Don't worry me and Mom are both better and we love all our friends. Gotta run it's time to eat. ~Chimera, reporting for ATCAD

Entry Way & Odds and Ends

The Entryway, I found the perfect rug for it. It's a little blah in the picture but I found a vase and flowers that look stunning and got a coat rack to hang on the wall to dress it up a bit.  The walls are Tempered Gray and the trim is Urban Sunrise. The walls look almost white or silver sometimes.

We also got a new light for the entryway.

I found this lamp for the Family Room.

And this vase, I finally got some flowers to go in it.

I decided to move this jar to my shelves in the entryway. I love the mix of colors in the glass.

And this picture. I won it years ago and have had it displayed in the study without a frame. I finally found the perfect frame for it, and it'll be living in the Family Room now.

The Best Cook in the World: Tales from My Momma's TableThe Best Cook in the World: Tales from My Momma's Table by Rick Bragg
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

An enjoyable yarn woven around his family's recipes. It's like sitting on the front porch listening to your grandparents reminisce about the past. Rick Bragg brings the Old South and the people who populated it to life in the pages of his Family Cookbook.
