After the death of Laura Malone's abusive husband she flees Boston to keep her rich snotty inlaws from taking the child she is pregnant with. Literally crashing into Gabe on a Colorado mountainside, when he left his cabin to fetch supplies.
Snowed in together the couple get closer and Gabe solves Laura's problems by marrying her and claiming the baby (Michael) as his own.
