NYPD Red 2 (NYPD Red, #2)

NYPD Red 2 (NYPD Red, #2)NYPD Red 2 by James Patterson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When teenage Dave and Gideon killed Enzo Salvi (after he raped Dave's sister) I couldn't really fault them. As the son of the local mob boss he would have never been punished. Surprisingly they got away with the murder, now they are both working as police officers, Gideon is dating Dave's sister and she works for the DA.

Kylie and Jordan have been called in to solve the Hazmat Murders after Evelyn Parker-Steele becomes his latest victim. Politics is making their lives miserable not to mention Kylie's husband is using again. Jordan is afraid that Cheryl is interested in one of their co-workers and everybody wants the case solved yesterday. When the accused Child-Killer Rachel is kidnapped soon after being found not guilty everyone fears the Hazmat Killer has struck again. But now Kylie and Jordan have a suspect they believe 2 cops are the killers and they ask Gideon and Dave to tail them.

But Gideon and Dave have problems of their own, Gideon's Mom found Enzo Salvi's diary in her son's old bedroom when she was cleaning it out and she returned it to Enzo's Mother. Now Papa Joe Salvi is ready to take Gideon and Dave down. The only question is will Kylie and Jordan get to Dave and Gideon before Papa Joe finishes his son's killers off. And will they be in time to save Rachel, who really was innocent of her daughter's death.

 I decoupaged some knobs.

This is the tile I picked out.

And this is my new tub. I have gotten to take a bath in it and it is so comfortable. I am really enjoying it.

The Democrats Last Chance to Fix Things

Dear #DNC, if you decide that Hillary Clinton is going to be the nominee then don't wast our time or money with a primary. Just announce that Hillary was promised way back when she stood by her man that she would get her own shot at the White House. Explain how after she "graciously" stepped aside for then Senator Obama she was promised that this would be her year so there is no need for a primary. Don't rig the primary...........................

And if you do rig the primary don't get caught. Now that you are caught the only thing you can do to fix things is ask Hillary to step aside once again and nominate Bernie Sanders anything else is going to end party unity for the foreseeable future.

Bernie can endorse Clinton till his face turns blue and the cows come home many of us will exit the Democratic Party if you stick with Hillary. It goes against our basic sense of fairness to let someone who cheated reap the benefits of their cheating. And the more you bully us with the threat of Trump, the more we remember how cozy the Clintons and Trumps once were.

The look of adoration on Hillary's face as she gazes at Trump should be enough to give anyone pause.

There are more reasons I will never vote for Hillary the majority of them have already been outlined here, The Deeper Reason Many Intelligent Progressives and Independents Will Not Support Hillary Clinton
Young DNC data director Seth Rich, who was managing Democratic Party voter records and had a passion for election integrity, was murdered via four shots to the back in Washington DC; and John Ashe, former UN President who was about to testify in a corruption case surrounding a Chinese businessman with connections to the Clintons, died in New York apparently from a dumbbell falling on his neck.
If Clinton becomes the nominee, this mistrust does not bode well for party unity, and it might prove foolish to expect the “lesser of evils” argument to work in November, even against Donald Trump. Many progressives and independents will vote for Green Party nominee Jill Stein, write in Bernie Sanders on their ballots, or simply stay home.
If the Democratic Party delegates, on the other hand, vote to award Bernie Sanders the nomination at the convention in Philadelphia, they will nominate a candidate not only more trustworthy than Donald Trump, but a historically honest, trustworthy, and scandal-free candidate. Bernie Sanders will likely appeal to progressives and independents across the spectrum, unite the entirety of the Democratic party, and defeat Donald Trump in a November landslide.
I still have a slim hope the DNC will wake up and cast Hillary aside especially after she stupidly hired Debbie Wasserman Schultz who played a key role in rigging the primary. That was like a giant finger to Bernie Supporters and those who believe in honest and fair elections. If they don't like so many others I will engage in #DemExit and vote for Jill Stein in November.

Tray

I decided to decoupage the tray I got at Michaels.

I think it turned out rather nice.

I also tried my hand at decoupaging the knobs for the cabinets in the Master Bath.

This one turned out rather nicely.

Unfortunately I messed up 3 of them and it is way to hot to attempt to redo them. I may try again this fall. ~Alasandra

The City of Mirrors (The Passage, #3) Spoilers

The City of Mirrors (The Passage, #3)The City of Mirrors by Justin Cronin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Everyone except Greer believes that Amy and Alicia are dead at the beginning of the book, they also believe that all the virals were killed during the battle in the stadium at The Homeland "The Twelve" and that it is now safe for the humans to come out from behind their walls and create settlements. Peter's adopted son Caleb (Theo and Mausami's son) and his wife Pim (Hollis and Sara's adopted daughter) set out to homestead with their young son Theo.

Greer who knows Amy is alive has been feeding Amy & Carter every month, they are living on a ship in hiding from Zero. Alicia has gone to New York to be with Zero who has promised her he will leave the people in Kerrville alone if she comes to him. When she finds out he lied to her Alicia leaves for Kerrville to warn them and try to protect them from Zero's many. While Alicia is in New York with Zero (Fanning) tells how as a young college student he meet Jonas Lear and his girlfriend Liz. How he fell in love with Liz and she fell in love with him, but that she accepted Jonas' proposal and married Jonas. How Fanning became successful in the world of academia and how near the end of Liz's life when she was dying and Jonas was off in Bolivia she reached out to Fanning and they planned to run away with one another. How he waited for her at Grand Central Station but she never came. And that thinking she has once again chosen Jonas he got drunk and accidentally killed a young woman who picked him up and took him to her home and then changed her mind. How when the police started to suspect him he accepted Jonas' offer to go to Bolivia with him and how he and several others were attacked by bats, but only Fanning survived. How he was taken back to America and experimented on in a military compound and the 12 plus Amy were created.

Kate's husband dies owing gambling debts, so Sara and Hollis send their daughter and her children to visit Caleb and Pim where they believe she will be safe. Kate is bitten by a viral and chooses to kill herself rather than turn into a viral. Sara and Hollis show up at the homestead shortly after her death and help get Caleb, Pim, Theo and Kate's daughters to Kerrville.

Michael (Sara's brother) knows the virals are still alive and has been working to get a large boat sea worthy so that some of humanity will be able to escape the next time they attack. He goes to Peter (who is now President of Kerrville) and tries to get him to come up with a plan for evacuating some of the citizens of Kerrville. Peter refuses to take the small number the boat can carry and sacrifice the rest and tries to defend Kerrville.

Michael and Lucius Greer help Amy drown herself so she can return to human form, they then rush to Kerrville to try to help. They get there shortly before the virals attack, Alicia shows up but Peter refuses to believe she is there to help and throws her in prison. Kerrville survives the first attack and Peter still refuses to leave, so Michael leaves and goes back to his boat where Lore (Michaels ex girlfriend) is getting everything ready. Amy helps Alicia escape and they try to stop the virals but Zero set a trap, his virals tunneled under the walls. Alicia tries to warn the humans but they severally injure her. Only a few children and adults survive. The survivors go to the boat.

Once Peter and Michael get everyone safely on the boat they set out for New York with Alicia and Amy in Michaels small sailboat. They plan to kill Zero. Peter is mortally wounded before they are able to kill Zero. Unwilling to let Peter go Amy turns him into a viral, but doesn't tell Michael who she believes in the only other survivor. Michael eventually sets out in his sailboat to see what else is out there (we don't really know what happened to him). Amy and Peter go to the cabin where they live for a number of years until Peter dies. She buries him and then returns to California, where she is eventually found by the decedents from the boat.

Sara, Hollis, Pim, Caleb, Theo, Lore, and Greer reach the Holy Island. Greer dies shortly after reaching the island, Pim gives birth to twins and the colony on the Island thrives. Years later one of Caleb and Pim's descendants will find the book Pim wrote.

Revisted A Song of Ice & Fire (Book Series) - A Game of Thrones (TV series)

Other serious discrepancy, in the TV series.
In the books Sansa is happily plotting with Lord Petyr Baelish who plans for her to marry Harrold Hardyng (the Arryn heir), and reclaim Winterfell in her name by conquest.

An imposter Jeyne Poole "Bolton" (the False Arya) who is posing as Arya Stark is married off to Ramsay Bolton, by the Lannisters. Since Jeyne Poole is the daughter of the steward of Winterfell, Vayon Poole. and is the best friend of Sansa Stark, she is able to answer questions about the Stark family and Winterfell in order to pass muster with those who did not know Arya Stark personally.

In the TV show Petyr Baelish marries Sansa off to Ramsay Bolton.

In the books Ser Barristan Selmy is alive and well. In the TV show they had him killed off by a band of cowards who wore mask when he came to the aid of the Unsullied they had ambushed. I think this was a huge mistake as Ser Barristan Selmy gave Daenerys' claim to the throne legitimacy and after she exiled Jorah Mormont he was the only one who really knows Westeros.

Also fast approaching where the books end. I think it is outrageous that we are still waiting on Book #6 while the TV series continues on. This is a slap in the face to all of Martin's readers who made him famous. Once I finish this series I will not read more of his books, as he is unreliable about finishing them.

Glad to see Jon Snow proclaimed King of the North. Sansa looked rather sour about it though. So sad they killed Rickon off, I really think it was him. I saw some speculation that it wasn't but surely Sansa and Jon would have recognized their brother. And Osha  was certainly the one with the boy when he arrived and was killed by Ramsay Bolton.  Loved when Arya got revenge on the Frey's I will be happy to see her back at Winterfell with her family and it looks as if Brandon is on his way back too. Terribly sad that Hodor sacrificed himself so they could escape though. Wish there could have been another way and how tragic that somehow as a young boy ( Walder, in the book Willis TV show) he saw his death holding the door and became Hodor (Hold Door, what he was repeating as he died).

Now if only Martin will finish the next BOOK.
