Celaena meets Mort in the tomb.
Celaena and Chaol fall deeply in love but when Nehemia is murdered Archer manages to implicate Chaol in her death driving a wedge between Celaena and Chaol.
Prince Dorian discovers he has magic and uses it to keep Celaena from killing Chaol.
Missing her friend Celaena opens a portal to the underworld and after Nehemia warns her never to do it again Archer makes his presence known. Celaena realizes he had Nehemia killed and attacks him and something comes through the portal. Dorian is visited by Gavin (the first King of Adarlan) and told he needs to go to the tunnel in Celaena's bedroom to save her. Dorian gets Chaol and they hasten to the tunnel where they find a badly wounded Celaena being protected by her dog Fleetfoot. Chaol attacks the monster and Dorian tries to get Celaena to safety. But when the monster grabs Fleetfoot and takes her through the portal Chaol follows and Celaena uses the last of her strength to go after them. In the world through the portal, she is able to use magic to transform into her Fae body and defeat the monster saving Chaol and Fleetfoot. But once back on the other side, she is back in her frail human body. Realizing if anyone discovers Celaena's secret she will be executed Chaol hatches a plan to have her sent to Wendlyn the last stronghold of the Fae.
Chaol promises his Father he will return to Anielle.
Chaol realizes Celaena is Aelin Ashryver Galathynis, heir to the throne of Terrasen.
