Born of Vengeance (The League: Nemesis Rising #10)

Born of VengeanceBorn of Vengeance by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

OK, rehashing the same plot over and over gets OLD. Recap of Born of Defiance (The League, #7), Born of Betrayal (The League, #8) and Born of Legend (The League, #9) this is Bastien's story. Bastien is reunited with Ember and discovers they had a son (Florian) together. Meets his half-brother Xander (who he grows to like) and discovers that his brother Quin survived the massacre and has been kept imprisoned in a hole in the ground (literally) leads a rescue team only to discover that Quin is perfectly happy in the hole in the ground with his wife (a political activist he meet in the hole in the ground) and really isn't that grateful to be rescued. Overthrows Barnabas and claims the throne of Kirovar with Ember as his Queen.

Shadowed Souls

Shadowed SoulsShadowed Souls by Jim Butcher
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A collection of short stories I mainly read it because of Cold Case by Jim Butcher. Molly is on a mission for Mab to collect the tribute from the Miksani. She teams up with the Warden Carlos and soon sparks start to fly. After rescuing the Miksani children from "the Others" she starts to get romantic with Carlos only to discover that as The Lady of Winter she will never be able to make love with a mortal again. Mab agrees to stay with Carlos until other Wardens can come heal him and Molly sets off to collect the horrifying tribute. The children Mab needs to train as soldiers.

Pascagoula River Wildlife Management Area (Parker Lake) in Mississippi #Kayaking #ParkerLake

Native Azalea (Flame Azalea)

This is the second time we have had the kayaks out since we got them for Christmas. The weather was perfect February 12, 2017. Technically it's still winter but someone forgot to tell the plants and weather that, not only did we have a lovely sunny day in the 70s but we had native azaleas and dogwoods to enjoy.

We explored both the North and the South ends of the lake, due to heavy rainfall a few days ago,  the current was probably a little stronger than usual. We picked a good time to go as we had the lake mostly to ourselves. I didn't spot any wildlife but the wildflowers more than made up for that.

Restaurant Review ~ Patio 44

Patio 44 has fast become one of my favorite restaurants on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Located on Main Street in Biloxi it's close to the beach. And the patio is a relaxing spot to sit and enjoy the day. I was seated next to their outdoor heater and water fountain.

We started the meal with the delicious bread they serve and added the Blue Crab Fondue which was deliciously warm and cheesy. I choose the Goat Cheese Chicken Salad Sandwich with fries for my meal. It was divine and Bo seemed pretty happy with his Shrimp Poboy. Good food reasonably priced and excellent service make this a great choice for lunch.

Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult

Leaving TimeLeaving Time by Jodi Picoult
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Achingly poignant  Leaving Time  is about Jenna's search for her Mother (Alice) who disappeared when she was three (10 years ago) and the lost souls she gets to help her on her mission. Interspersed with diary entries from Alice we meet Virgil the Detective turned PI who was called to the Elephant Sanctuary when Neevie (employee of the sanctuary) was supposedly trampled to death by an elephant, and the pressure he was under to close the case without really investigating it. Virgil has been haunted by Alice's disappearance and the mystery of what really happened at the Elephant Sanctuary that night. We learn about Serenity the psychic who has lost her gift and is down on her luck, when 13 year old Jenna shows up at her door asking for help. Together the threesome track down clues to what really happened that night at the Elephant Sanctuary, until Serenity finds the final clue that brings Alice back to confront her past.

Perfectionist tendencies cropping up. After looking at this for a couple of weeks I decided the bottom looked a little bare.

So I added a few things to give it more balance.
