My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Kendra has become obsessed with convincing law enforcement that Colby is still alive. When an unscrupulous reporter sets Kendra up by showing her photos of a staged crime scene, Kendra is the number one suspect when the reporter winds up dead.
After Kendra helps Beth Avery (Eve's sister) out of a jam, Beth comes back to San Diego with Kendra and is determined to help Kendra track down Colby any way she can. They team up with computer expert Sam Zackoff (Sam helped Eve and Kendra rescue Beth from a mental hospital in Sleep No More, Eve Duncan #15) to track Colby down. Worried about their safety Kendra puts them up at Adam Lynch's house while he is out of town, much to his annoyance when he arrives home unexpectedly.
When Colby takes Detective Stokes and brutally murders him on what is supposedly a live feed they do everything they can to track Colby down in time, but are dismayed when all they find is an empty house. But knowing Kendra will see the tape of his death Detective Stokes leaves her a clue, Colby's new alias.
But Colby ups the stakes when he has his accomplice pose as an FBI programmer and kidnap Beth. Racing against time Sam and Eve barely get to Beth in time to save her. Then the unthinkable happens Colby grabs Kendra by hiding out in the back of her car and insist she drive them to the gully where she captured him last time. But this time Kendra is determined to end things for good.
