Gun Games: A Decker/Lazarus Novel by Faye Kellerman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Gabe Whitman Donatti is living with the Deckers and becomes involved with a young Persian Jewish girl (Yasmine) whose parents would disapprove of their relationship so they sneak around.
Meanwhile Peter is investigating the suicides of Gregory Hesse and Myra Gelb, students at a prestigious prep school, whose suicides are suspicious due to missing items and stolen guns. Both deaths seem to involve Dylan Lashay the big man on campus and his "gang". Put Peter is having trouble pinning Dylan to the crimes until Dylan and his gang kidnap Gabe's girlfriend. Gabe goes after them and rescues Yasmine, but is shot in the process. He calls Decker for help and Dylan and his gang are rounded up while Gabe undergoes surgery. Dylan's rich parents get him out on bond and he skips bail but no one messes with Chris Donatti's son. The sentence Chris imposes on Dylan is much harsher than the jail sentence the courts would have imposed.
Yasmine's Mother forbids her to see Gabe again and she is sent away to an all girls school, but Gabe arranges to meet her on the sly and she promises to join him in New York on her 18th birthday.
