Cameron manipulates Catherine into rescuing Erin Sullivan, an American journalist who is being tortured by Kadmus in Tibet. Kadmus is after Cameron in hopes that "The Guardian" will lead him to Shambhala, a mythical land of riches and technology.
When Catherine and Erin are trapped on the mountainside Cameron uses his telepathic powers to guide them to safety. Catherine is none to pleased when she learns that Hu Chang has brought Luke into danger. Fleeing to San Francisco Catherine and Cameron devise a plan to trap Kadmus, but when Luke comes after Catherine the entire plan is threatened. Cameron takes a bullet saving Luke's life, but manages to get the boy to his Mother before Kadmus arrives.
Together they bring Kadmus down and Catherine and Cameron indulge in the sensual relationship they both want, while trying to decide what sort of relationship they can have with his duties as "The Guardian".
