Concealed in Death by J.D. Robb
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Homeschooled by a religiously fanatical Father who drums into Monty that his Mother died in sin by committing suicide. Monty becomes obsessed with cleansing the "bad girls" so they can be "good girls" and stay home, in the hiding place he created for them. When his brother (Nash) discovers him in the process of cleansing a bad girl Nash returns the girl to her bed in the Youth Center Nash and his sister (Philadelphia) run and institutionalizes Monty in The Full Light Institute for Wellness. When the girl awakens the next morning she thinks she dreamed the whole encounter. Philadelphia believes Monty went on a mission to Africa where he was eaten by a lion.
15 years later Roarke buys the abandoned building that housed Philadelphia and Nash's first youth center and finds the bones of 12 girls behind the walls. Eve must first identify the long lost girls then determine who killed them and how to get justice for the girls who never had a chance to grow up and find the right path.
Dislike the fact that Monty's emotional problems were blamed on his being homeschooled.
