My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jordan Glass has followed in her Father's footsteps as a photojournalist. She still holds out hope that Jonathan Glass didn't die in Cambodia, and has spent her life looking for him.

Now her twin sister (Jane) is missing. Fearing the worst she has almost given up hope when she views a portrait of her sister in The Hong Kong Museum of Art. The exhibit is titled "Sleeping Women" but they look dead and they are all of women who disappeared from New Orleans. Contacting the FBI with her discovery she heads back to the States. Using her contacts she finds the art dealer who sold the paintings and pays him a visit, realizing he knows more then he is telling and fearing for her life she starts to leave when an explosion ends the art dealers life and Jordan barely escapes from the building. The FBI agent that was on the scene was killed in his car, and the murder nearly grabs Jordan.

Using her skills as a photographer and the information she has Jordan manages to get the FBI to include her in their investigation. The chemistry between her and Agent John Kaiser is instant and they begin a romantic relationship in between investigating the suspects.

When Jordan is taken prisoner she can only pray that John will find her in time but determined to survive she uses her wits to outwit the killer. Since De Becque is a fugitive she must fly to his home on Grand Cayman to meet with him, but the surprise he has in store for her is well worth the trip.

Persuader (Jack Reacher, #7)Persuader by Lee Child
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When Jack Reacher was still in the military he sent Frasconi and Kohl to arrest Quinn. Quinn killed Frasconi and tortured and killed Kohl before he escaped. Reacher used the info that Kohl had gathered to track him and kill him.

Now 10 years later Reacher sees Quinn on the streets. He calls in a favor to get the name and the address for the the car that Quinn got into and gets roped into an off the books DEA investigation with the primary goal of the DEA being to rescue their undercover agent and Reacher's goal being to kill Quinn.

From the beginning their plans seem to go horribly wrong and Reacher is almost exposed numerous times. Then the maid is exposed as an ATF agent and Reacher realized that the DEA doesn't have any jurisdiction in the case as Quinn is a gun runner not a drug runner as they thought. He chooses to stay in with no backup and in typical Reacher fashion overcomes enormous odds to rescue the agent and kill Quinn.

The Graveyard Shift

The Graveyard ShiftThe Graveyard Shift by Jack Higgins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

One of the first Nick Miller books, I wish I had read them in order. Ben Garvald is out of prison and his ex sister in law, Jean Fleming goes to the police with a tale of how he is angry that her sister Bella divorced him and remarried. Nick is tasked with finding Ben and warning him to stay away from Bella but as Nick follows Ben's trail Jean's story begins to unravel.

Trying to show Nick up Jack Brandy visits Manton to question him on Ben's whereabouts and is pushed down the stairs by one of Manton's sidekicks. Believing him to be dead they dump the body and make it look like a hit and run, then kidnap the only witness Ben Garvald.

Thanks to Chuck Lazer, Miller is able to rescue Garvald on the way back to police headquarters Garvald takes Miller's car when they stop to arrest Jango (Manton's driver). A police officer finds the car and Garvald's body. Miller realizes that Garvald came back for the money and that he had left it with Bella. Then he goes after the woman who killed Ben Garvald.

Cross (Alex Cross, #12)Cross by James Patterson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Not sure how I missed this book. And I have to admit the low marks may be due to me already knowing how things turned out because I have read books that come after it.

Alex Cross is back in private practice after getting shot during a hostage rescue.

A mob hit man (The Butcher) is raping women and scaring them into keeping quiet about it by showing them pictures of what he did to women who talked. This same man raped a woman who confided in Maria Cross and may be responsible for Maria's murder.

Sampson and Alex bring him down and then Sampson reveals a secret he has been keeping from Alex.

PluggedPlugged by Eoin Colfer
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I like his Artemis Fowl series better but it's possible Daniel McEvoy might grow on me.

Daniel is Irish American and currently residing in America and working as a bouncer at a sleazy club. His friend and Doctor Zeb is missing and one of the local mob bosses (Irish Mike) thugs was in his place of business when Daniel kills him with a key in self defense. He places the body in the trunk of the thugs car and leaves it at the bus depot.

Then a customer (Faber) licks Connie (hostess at the club and Daniels one time fling) ass. Daniel makes him apologize but when Connie turns up dead in the parking lot Daniel assumes the Faber is the killer and fingers him to the cops.

The cops confront Faber and he gets very irate, they tail him but to Daniel's surprise during the stakeout one of the cops (Goran) pulls a gun on her partner Deacon and plans to execute her. Daniel shoots Goran from his hiding spot where he was watching the stake out, and then watches Deacon finish her off after Goran tries to attack her again.

Deacon figures out Daniel was the shooter and goes to his apartment where they have sex. She reveals she put Goran in the trunk of the car and left it out front. But Goran was dead and called for help. Faber's goons come get her and Deacon and Daniel follow and are captured. Turns out Faber and Goran were stealing drugs and selling them. With Goran dead Faber needs someone to take the drugs, he makes a deal with Daniel to do it with Deacon held hostage. Daniel gets the drugs but sets Faber up to look like he killed Irish Mike's thug. Daniel and Deacon hide in the freezer when Irish Mike bust in and kills Faber and his goons.

Daniel then listens to his messages and realizes that Faber didn't kill Connie. He is then picked up by Irish Mike who thinks he has a disk Zeb was blackmailing him with. He takes him to Zeb's office where Daniel finds Zeb still alive. Daniel puts his contingency plan into motion and manages to work a deal with Irish Mike so he and Zeb escape alive.

Daniel then figures out who really killed Connie.

Midsummer's Knight by Kinley MacGregor

Where's My Hero?Where's My Hero? by Kinley MacGregor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Only read Midsummer's Knight by Kinley MacGregor as I am reading both The MacAllisters series and the The Brotherhood of the Sword series. Simon (Draven of Ravenswood's) younger brother, Stryder's best friend and Sin's foster brother, has a problem as a landless knight there is no way he can hope to gain permission to marry the woman he loves much less win her heart or so he thinks. So when she starts writing Stryder of Blackmoor as Stryder's secretary he responds. At first the letters are innocent enough but then Simon lets his feelings show, since he only signs the letters with an S and Kenna doesn't know The Wraiths name she assumes the letters are from Stryder and tells her cousin Callie that she is betrothed to the Earl of Blackmoor. Simon not realizing that Kenna has read more into the letters then he intended talks Stryder into going to England for a tournament where he can see Kenna who will be there with Sin and Callie. When they arrive Stryder is bemused by all those congratulating him on his betrothal, but he is down right astonished when Kenna throws herself in his arms announcing her pleasure at seeing her fiancee and mentions his "letters" to her. Since Stryder is illiterate and depends on Simon to attend his correspondence he immediately knows who to blame. Simon explains himself to Kenna and wins her heart they spend a magical day together only to be confronted by King Malcome of Scotland there to see his cousin married to Stryder. He finally says that he will allow Kenna to marry the winner of the tournament but Stryder is known as the undefeated champion and even to escape a marriage he doesn't want and for his friendship with Simon he will not allow Simon to win. Simon is determined to win but the strap on his horse breaks and he crashes to the ground in defeat. Stryder apologizes but Simon is angry with him, Stryder stalks away but Simon sees someone fixing to shoot Stryder and charges Stryder knocking him to the ground and taking the arrow meant for Stryder..............
