American Lube Fast Ripped Us Off

I really hate it when mechanics or other service technicians take advantage of people. American Lube Fast Store #0147 on Washington Avenue pulled a fast one on my youngest son.

The oil in the car our 18 year old son drives needed changing. He took it by American Lube Fast for us and the technicians insisted he also needed to get the Transmission Fluid Exchanged ($109.99) & the Engine Flushed ($59.99). Even though according to the maintenance manual for the car it was NO where near time for the Transmission Fluid to be changed. According to the Honda Accord Manuel the Transmission fluid doesn't need to be replaced until 8 years or 120,000 miles. Our car is barely 5 years old and only has 55,042 miles on it. We did NOT WANT the Transmission Fluid Exchanged or the Engine Flushed. We only wanted the oil changed ($31.99). They did it anyway costing us an additional $169.98 We will NOT be back to American Lube Fast after being ripped off like this.

My husband went down there to complain but of course since they bullied an 18 year old into signing off on it there was nothing we could do.

Little Changes Make A Big Difference

We needed a new bedspread and I kinda wanted to change things up. But I wanted to keep the border I used with my last bedspread so Hubby wouldn't have to paint. Don't think I am being sweet and considerate I want him to make me some more raised flower beds. First I got new sheets with a nice floral print.

They look really nice with my new comforter and curtains.

Notice the pink butterfly amongst the pink and blue flowers.

I love the embroidered pink roses on the sides.

The matching curtains.

I love they way the comforter and curtains look but I'll NEVER get 100% cotton again. I hate to iron. Mainly because I am so bad at it. I burnt my hand ironing the bed-skirt.

New Header

The Header was created by Mrs Ann, to see more of her work visit Collectibles by Zoolatry and Zoolatry.

Dining with Alasandra ~ Phoenicia Gourmet Cuisine

For my birthday Bo and the boys took me out to dine at Phoenicia Gourmet Cuisine. The service was excellent and the food was magnificent.

I had the Crab Stuffed Red Snapper with a delicious sauce, I can't remember the name of. Hubby had the Pecan Crusted Mahi-mahi with Strawberry & Kiwi sauce, Youngest Son had Surf & Turf ( the shrimp were delicious he shared one with me) and Eldest Son had Pan-fried Rainbow Trout. All the meals came with French Onion Soup (the best I have ever had) and a salad. I had the Greek Salad, the boys both choose Cesar Salads and Hubby had a Spinach Salad.

I was too full for desert but everyone allowed me to taste theirs and they were delicious. Youngest Son had Raspberry Creme Brulee, Eldest Son had Cheesecake with Chocolate Sauce and Hubby had Bread Pudding with Ice Cream.

Dining with Alasandra

Wednesday I meet my friend for lunch at the Porter Avenue Bistro.  It was to cold to sit on the deck but the bar area where we sat was nice. The menu has a wide selection of food. I tried the Piece in the Middle East pizza and it was delicious.

  5. The Halfling's Gem by R. A. Salvatore - believing Bruenor to be dead Drizzt and Wulfgar set out to rescue Regis and Guenhwyvar from Artemis. On the way Drizzt plunders a magical mask from a banshee that allows him to pass as a surface elf.  Realizing that Artemis has set out to sea with his captives Drizzt and Wulfgar follow him on the Sea Sprite with Captain Deudermont. Pook has his pirate allies attack the Sea Sprite and all appears to be lost until Bruenor and Catti-brie show up in a flaming chariot. After defeating the pirates the Sea Sprite has to put into the nearest port for repairs and the friends are forced to cross the desert. Meanwhile Pook summons Guenhwyvar and orders the cat to kill Regis, instead Guenhwyvar takes Regis to safety. Pook then orders his wizard to use the Taros Hoop to retrieve Regis.  Finding Pook's strong hold the friends brave the sewers and fight off Rassiter and his wererats. When they reach Pook they are thrown through the Taros Hoop into Tarterus. Regis manages to retrieve the scepter that controls the portal and the statuette of Guenhwyvar from Pook's pocket and follows his friends into Tarterus. Attempting to throw the scepter to his friends so they can escape it falls short and Catti-brie jumps after it. She catches the scepter and throws it to her friends supposedly falling to her death. Drizzt uses the scepter to get Bruenor and Wulfgar back to Pook's then rescues Catti-brie. Guenhwyvar takes Regis to safety and they return to Pook's with some of Guenhwyvar's cat friends.  Pook is defeated and Regis takes his place as Guildmaster. Regis then pays for Captain Deudermont to take his friends home on the Sea Sprite so that Bruenor can lead the war to regain his kingdom.  Supposedly learning of Catti-brie and Wulfgar's wedding Regis shows up at Mithril Hall unexpectedly.
  6.  The Legacy by R. A. Salvatore - Regis sows discord among the friends and Drizzt is disturbed by Regis' new found prowess with weapons. The drow attack Bruenor and his party and one of the friends is killed.
  7. The Time Traveler's Wife - very romantic and sad. I didn't like the casual drug & alcohol abuse throughout the book. I also found Henry's attitude that breaking the law while Time Traveling was OK, disturbing.

  9. Payback by Fern Michaels ~ The Sisterhood gets even with Senator Watson for giving his wife Aids as well as with the owners of an HMO who rake in record profits by denying life saving services to their subscribers.
